JKSA issues advisory to Kashmiri students ahead of India-Pak match, urges restraint on social media

Kashmiri Students Urged to Stay Calm During Tense India-Pakistan Asia Cup Clash

As excitement builds for the high-stakes India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has stepped in with a timely advisory. On Saturday, the group asked Kashmiri students studying across India to enjoy the game responsibly and steer clear of social media posts that could spark trouble.

JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami made it clear: treat this cricket match like any other sports event. "Don’t let it lead to unnecessary drama," he said. Instead, focus on your studies and future careers – that’s why you left home in Jammu and Kashmir in the first place.

Khuehami reminded students of the big sacrifices their families make. Dads work non-stop, brothers take loans, sisters sell jewelry, and moms pray day and night for your success. Why risk it all over a game?

He pointed out the real dangers from past India-Pakistan cricket matches. Dozens of students have faced arrests, detentions, or summons just for social media comments or heated online debates. These incidents derail academics and create legal headaches that hurt long-term prospects.

"See sports as just a game – don’t let emotions take over," Khuehami urged. The JKSA advises avoiding all social media chats, arguments, or posts that could stir controversy or get you in trouble at college. Cheer with true sportsman spirit, but skip the conflicts.

India-Pakistan cricket matches always carry heavy political and emotional weight, especially now. Khuehami warned that openly supporting a team might put you in a risky spot on campus or in your hostel. Stay safe, think of your family’s worries back home, and prioritize caution.

At its core, sports should build unity, peace, and friendship – not division. "Games teach brotherhood, discipline, and harmony," Khuehami added. "Let’s make this Asia Cup match a celebration of sportsmanship, not a fight."

The advisory also nods to recent tensions. Earlier this year, a terror attack in Pahalgam nearly pushed India and Pakistan to the edge of war, showing how fragile peace can be. Even though Kashmiris rallied against terrorism and supported the victims, many J&K students in other parts of India faced backlash.

With resentment still simmering over the Pahalgam attack and the conflict that followed, this cricket showdown won’t just be about runs and wickets. It will mix in politics, emotions, and nationalism. JKSA calls on all Jammu and Kashmir students nationwide to promote harmony and peace during this sensitive time. Stay vigilant, enjoy responsibly, and keep the focus on unity.
