Saira Banu says Dilip Kumar ‘continues to inspire youth’ even after his passing, as she marks his 103rd birth anniversary

Mumbai, Dec 11 (LatestNewsX) – Veteran actress Saira Banu has turned to her social‑media feed to celebrate the memory of her late megastar husband, Dilip Kumar, sharing heartfelt reflections and renewed admiration.
In her post, she highlighted how, even after his death, he remains a guiding light for emerging artists. “For generations, artists have walked in your light. They still seek in you not just craft but purity of purpose.” She added, “For the audience, your films were like returning to festivals that never lose their warmth. People have loved you with a devotion I have rarely seen in this world. And yet, despite the reverence, you remained untouched by the noise of fame.”
Saira emphasized that Dilip Kumar was a remarkable human being who chose emotions over material gains. “I often smile when I remember how easily you part with things others would treasure for a lifetime – a watch, a shawl, a pen – given away with the innocence of a child who values hearts more than possessions. Or that evening when you held my hand and led me to a wedding without a moment’s announcement, as if grace itself needed no preparation.”
The veteran actress further remembered her husband, calling him “Yousuf Saab” and praising his understated, purposeful life. “Your inner world, Yousuf Saab, was always carved from something rarer than time – simple yet profound, free of material wants, rich with meaning, and devoted to the quiet discipline of truth. To have lived beside you, to have witnessed the man behind the legend, remains the greatest honour of my life.”
Expressing her feelings, she wrote, “Sometimes, in a whisper only the heart understands, I find myself saying, ‘Khuda se poochun… Kya humein Yousuf hamasā ke liye nahin mil sakete?’ Happy Birthday, Yousuf Jaan.” She also paired the note with three videos remembering him, featuring both of them together.
In the first video, an old interview shows Saira Banu discussing Dilip Kumar’s temperament. She describes him as having a typical ‘Pathan temper’ and calls him “a volcano,” which Dilip himself confirms. The second clip contains Dilip admitting that he is “one of the henpecked husbands.”
Saira then shares with the interviewer that she is grateful to have married someone from the same profession. She explains that marrying a doctor or a person from another field would have been disastrous, because sharing the same industry allows them to talk about common subjects and understand each other deeply.
The third video comes from a different interview where the couple appears together. Saira lovingly tells the recorder that she adores her husband deeply and does not worry about how much he loves her in return. She says her love is enough for both of them and is what keeps their relationship strong forever.
For the uninitiated, the legendary veteran passed away on July 7, 2021, at the age of 98, following a prolonged illness. The actor left behind a cinematic legacy that spans more than six decades, with iconic performances in films such as Devdas, Mughal‑e‑Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Naya Daur, Ram Aur Shyam, Kranti, and many others.
