K Kavitha takes veiled jibe at T Harish Rao

In the lively village of Chinthamadaka, Telangana—home to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekhar Rao—Telangana Jagruthi chief K Kavitha joined locals to celebrate the colorful Bhathukamma festival on Sunday. But the event carried a subtle political edge, as Kavitha took a not-so-hidden swipe at her cousin and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao.

Kavitha spoke openly about facing restrictions on her visits to the village, dropping a hint that Siddipet could soon become her karmabhoomi, or place of action in politics. Without naming anyone directly, she described Chinthamadaka as feeling like “private property.” She shared warm memories of family trips there, starting back in 2004 when KCR stepped down as a protest leader to run for Parliament. “From that day until now, coming to Siddipet or Chinthamadaka has felt like stepping onto private land,” she said.

She pushed back firmly, insisting those barriers won’t hold in her father’s native village. “This is the land that birthed a cheetah—the land that gave us KCR,” Kavitha said, using the animal as a metaphor for his fierce leadership. She pointed to the whole community joining in the Bhathukamma festivities as proof that no restrictions can overshadow this place. The festival, a vibrant Telangana tradition honoring women and flowers, brought everyone together in a show of unity.

Looking back at KCR’s key role in the Telangana statehood movement, Kavitha reflected on her roots. “This is my janmanbhoomi, my birthplace and my mother’s home,” she told the crowd. “With your blessings, it could become my karmabhoomi too. KCR started a wave from here that created Telangana—anything is possible if you stand with us.”

This latest jab at Harish Rao stems from a family and political rift that heated up earlier this month. Kavitha resigned from BRS after the party suspended her. She accused Harish Rao and J Santosh Rao of teaming up with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to tear apart their family and the party. As Telangana politics simmers with these internal BRS tensions, eyes are on what Kavitha’s next moves might be in Siddipet and beyond.
