Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a fresh wave of youth‑focused programs worth 62 000 crore rupees at the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh in New Delhi. The event— a part of the National Skill Convocation series—seen a clear push for education, skilling, and entrepreneurship for young people across India.

Modi highlighted several new projects for Bihar’s youth, calling them “a guarantee of a bright future.” 46 top students from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were congratulated, and the PM spoke directly to students in Patna, urging them to seize learning and job opportunities.

The highlights include the PM‑SETU scheme, a centrally sponsored plan that will upgrade 1 000 government ITIs into a hub‑and‑spoke network. With 200 hub ITIs and 800 spoke ITIs, the programme will install modern machines, bring industry experts to train students, and update curricula to match current job demands. Modi also launched 1 200 skill labs in Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Schools.

Another key initiative is Bihar’s revamped Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana. Nearly 500 000 young graduates will receive a monthly stipend of 1 000 rupees for two years, plus free skill training. The PM laid foundation stones for new academic facilities at Patna University, Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya, and Nalanda Open University, part of the USHA program, investing 160 crore rupees to benefit more than 27 000 students with modern labs, hostels, and multidisciplinary classrooms.

Modi also unveiled the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University in Bihar, intended to deliver industry‑oriented vocational courses and build a globally competitive workforce. In addition, he handed out appointment letters to over 4 000 new Bihar government recruits and released 450 crore rupees in scholarships through Direct Benefit Transfer for 2.5 million class‑9 and 10 students under the Mukhyamantri Balak/ Balika Scholarship Scheme.

The PM declared the new NIT Patna campus in Bihta a national asset. With 6 500‑student capacity, the campus houses a 5G use‑case lab, a Regional Academic Centre for Space in collaboration with ISRO, and an Innovation & Incubation Centre that has already helped nine start‑ups.

Through these projects, Modi emphasized India’s commitment to a knowledge‑based economy, underscoring that skilled and educated youth are the country’s greatest strength. He urged young people to embrace learning, as the “21st century demands local talent” that can drive India’s growth.
