KCR’s daughter Kavitha suspended from BRS for anti-party activities

In a surprising move, K. Kavitha, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), was suspended from the party by her father and party chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). The suspension happened on Tuesday, amidst rising tensions within the party.

The BRS leaders T. Arvind Rao and Somu Bharat Kumar announced that KCR had made the decision after reviewing Kavitha’s recent actions. They said her activities were damaging the party’s reputation and were considered “anti-party.”

This decision came after Kavitha publicly criticized her own family members and former colleagues. She launched a strong attack on her cousin and former minister T. Harish Rao, as well as other former MPs, soon after returning from the US. Kavitha accused them of tarnishing KCR’s image and being involved in illegal activities related to the controversial Kaleshwaram irrigation project.

Kavitha questioned whether Harish Rao, who served as Irrigation Minister for five years, played a major role in alleged irregularities. She suggested that some party leaders and contractors were colluding for personal gain, which she believes contributed to the ongoing CBI probe against KCR.

Her remarks also came shortly after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the case related to the Kaleshwaram project would now be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kavitha claimed that corruption accusations and conspiracies within the party had hurt KCR’s reputation, and she criticized those around him for their actions.

Despite personal attacks from some party leaders, Kavitha said she remained patient and did not respond to their insults. She expressed sadness that her father, KCR, was now facing a CBI inquiry because of what she called internal conspiracies.

Kavitha’s suspension comes about three months after a leaked letter she wrote to KCR was made public. In that letter, she blamed some party leaders for the leak and described KCR as a “god surrounded by devils.” She also pointed fingers at a few leaders for her defeat in the 2019 Nizamabad Lok Sabha elections.

In the last few months, Kavitha has been actively organizing protests on various issues through her cultural organization, Telangana Jagruthi. Her suspension marks a significant turn in her political journey and highlights ongoing internal conflicts within the BRS party.
