A delegation headed by Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar met President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday night at Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram. The group told the president about the concerns people have over several local issues, most notably a report of gold misappropriation at the Sabarimala temple.
President Murmu is in Kerala for a four‑day visit that starts with a pilgrimage to Sabarimala. She landed at the state airport, where Kerala Governor Rajendra V. Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other officials welcomed her. After a brief reception, she travelled to Raj Bhavan, her official guest house for the visit.
The BJP delegation includes former Governor and BJP national executive member Kummanam Rajasekharan, ex‑Union Minister V. Muraleedharan, former state BJP president K. Surendran, state BJP general secretary S. Suresh, and ex‑DGP and state BJP vice‑president R. Sreelekha. They presented President Murmu with a replica of the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple, a tribute to Kerala’s rich spiritual heritage.
On Wednesday, the president will fly by Air Force helicopter to Nilakkal, arrive around 10:20 a.m., and then travel by road to Pamba. After visiting the Pamba Ganapathi Temple, she will climb Sabarimala on a special Gurkha jeep, accompanied by Governor Arlekar and his wife. She is expected to reach Sannidhanam by noon for darshan and will stay at the Devaswom Guest House.
After her return, Governor Arlekar will host a dinner reception in her honour. The remainder of the trip will see President Murmu unveil a statue of former President K.R. Narayanan, attend centenary celebrations at Sivagiri and St. Teresa’s College, and inaugurate the Platinum Jubilee of St. Thomas College in Palai. She will head back to Delhi on Friday.
