Kerala Police Crack Down on Drugs: 146 Arrested in Major Statewide Raid
Kerala Police launched a massive crackdown on drug peddlers, arresting 146 people and seizing narcotics like MDMA and cannabis during a special statewide operation. This bold move, called Operation D-Hunt, targeted those involved in selling banned substances across the state.
The drive kicked off on Thursday, September 11, and saw police checking a whopping 1,838 suspects. They registered 140 cases linked to possession of illegal drugs. From the arrested individuals, officers recovered 0.103972 kg of MDMA, 0.19358 kg of cannabis, and 87 cannabis beedis. The goal? To hunt down and punish anyone storing or distributing these prohibited narcotics, making Kerala safer from drug threats.
This comes as part of Kerala’s ongoing efforts to tackle the rising issue of drug abuse and trafficking. Operation D-Hunt highlights how police are stepping up to keep communities drug-free.

In other news from Kerala, airport officials and security forces gathered at Cochin International Airport for a key conference on aviation security. Held on Friday, the meeting focused on upgrading safety measures to ensure smooth and secure flights.
Chaired by senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer Praveer Ranjan, IPS, the zonal-level event brought together top brass from CISF, airport authorities, and major airports. They discussed cutting-edge tech like AI-driven surveillance, full-body scanners, intrusion detection systems, and stronger cybersecurity protocols.
A CISF post on X summed it up: "The conference reviewed aviation security in today’s world, stressing AI surveillance, full-body scanners, and more. CISF is committed to safe and seamless air travel." This push aims to make flying in India even more reliable amid growing passenger numbers.
