Uttarakhand government continues proactive approach towards welfare of forest personnel serving in remote regions

In Dehradun, Uttarakhand, officials announced that the state government will provide a housing allowance for forest personnel who work in remote, hard‑to‑reach areas.

The decision comes from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who said the measure will make it easier for forest guards and officers to keep their families close while they protect the state’s forests and wildlife.

Many forest staff spend weeks or months away from home in isolated outposts where basic services such as schools and health clinics are not available. Because of this, they often cannot arrange proper accommodation for their families. The new allowance will let them cover the cost of housing for relatives who stay nearby, giving them peace of mind and a better work‑life balance.

To determine which locations qualify, the Finance Department will work with the Forest Department. Employees who benefit from the allowance are expected to feel more supported and motivated to carry out their duties.

Forest officials welcomed the move and thanked CM Dhami and Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal for recognizing their challenges and taking tangible action. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to strengthen forest protection infrastructure and support staff welfare across Uttarakhand.
