KPCC denounces misrepresentation over Bihar post, VT Balram still heads digital Media Cell

Kerala Congress Clears Air on Controversial Bihar Post by VP V.T. Balram

In a quick move to set the record straight, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Sunny Joseph spoke out on Monday about a recent controversy involving Vice President V.T. Balram and a social media post on Bihar. The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter), had sparked backlash for not matching the party’s official stance, but Joseph made it clear that Balram had nothing to do with creating it.

Joseph explained in his statement from Thiruvananthapuram that the KPCC’s Digital Media Cell (DMC) relies on a team of party supporters who handle online content. "They focus on Kerala-specific issues, but for national topics like Bihar, they must follow the All India Congress Committee (AICC) guidelines strictly," he said. When the Bihar post didn’t align with the party’s position, Balram and other KPCC leaders spotted the mistake right away. They ordered the team to delete it immediately, and the post got removed without delay.

But here’s the twist—some media reports and CPI(M) leaders are twisting the story to claim Balram wrote the tweet himself. Joseph called this out as a "deliberate attempt to pull him into unnecessary drama and tarnish his image." The Congress party wants everyone to know that Balram hasn’t resigned or faced any punishment over this. He still holds his roles as KPCC Vice President and DMC Chairman.

With panchayat and Assembly elections coming up in Kerala, the party is thinking about shaking up its social media team to avoid such slip-ups in the future. Joseph added that this restructuring will help keep things on track during the busy election season.

The Congress didn’t hold back on criticizing Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his ministers either. They slammed them for staying silent on Rahul Gandhi’s mass protest against what the party calls "democratic subversion" in Bihar. Instead, the CM and his team are busy highlighting controversies stirred up by the BJP, according to Joseph.

Finally, Joseph warned that the KPCC will brush off these "malicious campaigns" from CPI(M) and certain media outlets trying to drag popular Congress leaders like Balram into needless fights. The party stands firm against such tactics and urges supporters to focus on real issues ahead of the elections.

This Bihar controversy highlights the growing role of social media in Indian politics, especially in states like Kerala where digital campaigns can sway voters quickly. Stay tuned for more updates on KPCC’s election preparations and how they’re handling online challenges.
