Abhishek Bachchan says ‘Thank you dad’ as he mourns the loss of his makeup artist of 27 years

Abhishek Bachchan shared a heartfelt tribute to his longtime makeup artist, Ashok Sawant, who died last night after a long illness.
The actor posted the note on his official Instagram account, where he described Sawant as “a part of the family.”
He wrote, “Ashok dada and I have worked together for over 27 years. He started doing my makeup on my very first film. He was more than a crew member; he was family.”
Bachchan explained that in recent years Sawant had been unwell and couldn’t always be on set. “Whenever I was shooting, he’d check on me every single day,” he added. “He made sure his assistant handled the makeup and always kept a smile on his face. He’d bring warm embraces and his famous namkeen chivda or bhakar wadi in his bag.”
The film star recalled early memories with his mentor. “I’d go to him for blessings when I took my first film shoot. Though I’m heart‑broken, I’ll always feel his guidance from above.”
Bachchan thanked Sawant for his love, care, talent and the many laughs they shared. “Rest in peace, Ashok Sawant. I look forward to the bear‑hug we’ll share next time.”
The news comes from Mumbai, where the industry mourns the loss of a cherished artist who helped shape the look of Bollywood’s iconic star for more than a quarter of a century.
