New Delhi, Nov 23 – Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla praised the Sindhi community’s unwavering dedication to service and its rich cultural legacy, saying these traits have helped propel India’s social, economic and cultural progress.
During the “Sashakt Samaj – Samridh Bharat” event run by the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations (VSHFA) at Vigyan Bhawan, Birla lauded the collective fortitude and adaptability of Sindhis, pointing out that their spirit perfectly matches the pillars that support a powerful India. He added that the group has repeatedly shown excellence in sectors ranging from business and industry to banking, services and cutting‑edge technologies, thereby creating jobs for millions.
Birla noted that the community’s achievements stem not only from business savvy but also from core values of trust, collaboration and ethical behaviour—qualities that greatly aid national progress. He highlighted how the ordeals faced during Partition only fortified the Sindhi people. Even after losing vast possessions, they fiercely preserved their faith, customs and cultural identity. “They rebuilt their lives with extraordinary resolve, turning misfortune into opportunity. Their story is a powerful testament to resilience and cultural pride,” he said.
The Speaker underscored that India’s strength is rooted in its diversity, and that harmony, coordination and mutual respect among all groups are essential to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He commended Sindhis for their significant inputs in education, health, social service and community welfare, stressing their commitment to inclusive growth and social uplift.
Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other dignitaries were also present. Birla, who has maintained a close relationship with the community since 2003, affirmed that their loyalty and goodwill remain steadfast. He shared anecdotes from parliamentary missions abroad, where he encountered vibrant Sindhi communities in places from Barbados to Suriname to Mexico—groups adept at preserving heritage while becoming vital parts of local economies and social fabric.
He attributed the entrepreneurial flair, innovation and forward‑thinking mindset of Sindhi youth as key drivers of India’s growth, especially in technology and emerging sectors. “Their contributions inspire other groups and amplify national development efforts,” he remarked. Echoing PM Modi, Birla said the community offers a global lesson: resilience, hard work and cultural integrity pave the way to success and the rebuilding of lives. “Their achievements, both at home and abroad, fill us with deep national pride,” he concluded.
