New Delhi, Nov 27 – Lt Gen Zubin A Minwalla has taken over as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, stepping into the role after handing over his previous post as GOC of Trishakti Corps, a source confirmed. He succeeds Lt Gen Vipul Shinghal, who is now the Deputy Chief of Army Staff.
“As part of the transition, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit and all ranks of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff extend congratulations to the outgoing and incoming generals,” the official statement read on X.
Minwalla’s appointment is expected to keep the momentum going in formulating joint doctrines, strengthening interoperability, and advancing joint‑structure development, said the HQ IDS.
A few days earlier, on 18 November, Maj Gen G. Srinivas and other officers from the College of Defence Management toured Trishakti Corps as part of a Forward‑Area visit. They were briefed on operational and logistical matters, visited the Information and Decision Support Centre, and discussed strategic insights with Lt Gen M.R.S. Maan, which deepened their appreciation of operational dynamics, the HQ IDS posted on X.
The Trishakti Corps – the Army’s XXXIII Corps – is tasked with the defence of Sikkim and the crucial Siliguri Corridor. Located in Sukna, North Bengal, it safeguards India’s eastern frontier and works to maintain stability along the Line of Actual Control with China.
On 25 November, HQ IDS noted that the Doctrine and Strategy Seminar at the Army War College, Mhow, examined how strategic culture affects contemporary warfighting, comprehensive national power, and regional challenges. The seminar also delved into broader security considerations.
The Army War College shared a recap of the second day on X, stating: “Legacy thinking won’t cut it! #IA embracing Disruptive Technologies, MDO & Atmanirbharta to stay ahead. Adapt & innovate – the future belongs to those who shape it first.”
