The Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi has fired off a fresh plea for more seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. In a tweet on X, the Union MSME minister used a line from the Mahabharata to say, “If there is justice, give half; if not, give just 15 grams—keep your land whole and we’ll happily share.” The message is aimed straight at the BJP and JD(U), the senior partners of the NDA alliance, urging them to carve out a fair share for HAM.
Last election, HAM contested seven seats and won four—Imamganj, Barachatti, Tikari and Sikandara—showing a strong performance inside the NDA fold. Manjhi’s earlier demand of 40 seats has now been trimmed to 15 as the alliance sits on the brink of finalizing its seat‑sharing plan. According to insiders, HAM’s key targets for 2025 are Sherghati and Atri in Gaya district.
Other small NDA allies are also pushing for significant numbers: Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) wants about 40 seats, while Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha seeks a respectable share. Negotiations are still underway as party leaders prepare for a high‑level NDA meeting in Patna, where the final seat‑allocation formula will be set before the Election Commission’s deadline.
