Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu represents India at ICAO General Assembly in Montreal

India’s Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu stepped up to represent the country at the 42nd General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada. The event brings together global leaders to tackle key issues in civil aviation.

Naidu shared his excitement on social media platform X, posting about the honor of speaking for India. He met with ICAO Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, using the chance to spotlight the explosive growth in India’s aviation sector. “I highlighted Indian aviation’s exponential growth and conveyed profound appreciation to ICAO for its constant support and cooperation,” Naidu wrote. He also chatted about India’s potential to lead in global aviation and share its technical and skilling know-how with other nations.

During the talks, Naidu tied ICAO’s theme, “No Country Left Behind,” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the idea that the world is one family. “India is totally committed to this cause,” he added, showing how the two visions line up perfectly.

Naidu didn’t stop there. He stressed India’s push for sustainability and inclusivity in aviation. The minister pointed out strong steps toward Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and boosting women’s roles to make the industry more gender-inclusive. These efforts aim to build a greener, fairer future for Indian aviation.

On the sidelines of the assembly, exciting news broke: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICAO. This deal kicks off an ICAO-led technical study to guide AAI and the broader Indian aviation scene. The focus? Helping airport growth blend smoothly with local environments while turning airports into economic hubs through aerotropolis or aerocity models. Naidu called it a big win for sustainable development in India’s booming aviation landscape.
