MahaYuti stands by farmers, opposition should introspect: Maha Dy CM

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde rallied behind farmers hit hard by heavy rains and floods in the state, vowing that the MahaYuti government has their back during this tough time.

Speaking in Mumbai on Wednesday, Shinde slammed opposition leaders—clearly pointing to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray without naming him—for attacking the government instead of looking inward. “The former chief minister promised a Rs 50,000 subsidy for farmers who repay loans on time, but it never happened,” Shinde said. “Our MahaYuti alliance, on the other hand, wiped out loans for 20 lakh farmers. They need to reflect on that first.”

Shinde highlighted how the government supports farmers through schemes like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, with a similar program providing direct financial aid. “We’ve stood with farmers, helping them rebuild and find strength,” he added. Over the past two and a half years, the state has poured Rs 30,000 to 40,000 crore into farmer welfare programs. He stressed that MahaYuti remains committed to easing their burdens amid the Maharashtra floods crisis.

In a recent cabinet meeting, leaders decided to fast-track financial aid for farmers by waiving usual rules. “We’ll finalize this in the next two days,” Shinde promised. He assured no one speculating about half-hearted help— the government plans major relief, and he’s ordered banks to halt any forced loan recoveries.

Turning to rumors, Shinde dismissed claims that the popular Ladki Bahin scheme—offering cash support to women—might end. “Ignore the misinformation from the opposition,” he told beneficiaries. “We’ll never shut it down. Those who fought against it from the start have no say now, and the assembly election results proved that.”

For flood victims, the government is rolling out immediate help, including Rs 10,000 cheques, food grains, clothes, and books. With Diwali approaching, Shinde directed Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik to scrap the planned fare hike on state buses, bringing quick relief to everyday commuters. A circular confirming this will come out soon.

In a nod to students affected by the heavy rains, authorities are offering one final shot at online admissions for Class 11. This comes after 10 rounds of the centralized process for the 2025-26 academic year. The decision stemmed from a meeting led by Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, with School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse present.

Education Director (Secondary) Mahesh Palkar said details will drop at a press conference on October 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. In this last round, every registered student gets a junior college spot based on merit. He urged students, parents, and college principals to jump on this opportunity and stay updated.
