Harmanpreet gets World Cup trophy ‘etched in skin and heart’ with new tattoo

Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper who lifted India to its first ODI Women’s World Cup title, marked the win by getting the trophy tattooed on her arms. She also inked “2025” and “52” next to it—signifying the year of the victory and the 52‑run margin over New Zealand.

On Instagram the captain shared a photo of the new tattoo and wrote, “Forever etched in my skin and my heart. Waited for you since Day 1 and now I will see you every morning and be grateful.” Her post quickly went viral, with fans praising her bold tribute to the team’s historic triumph.

India’s victory, announced on Tuesday, made Kaur the first woman to lead the “Women in Blue” to a World Cup win in 25 years. The win signals a new era for women’s cricket in India and worldwide, with the top‑level team moving on to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

In a tearful video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Kaur spoke to the next generation of players, saying, “I dreamed of wearing this blue jersey. For a young girl who didn’t know about women’s cricket, this is a dream come true.” She added, “Never stop dreaming—destiny can show up when you believe it’s possible.”

The BCCI celebrated Kaur’s historic moment and the Women in Blue’s success, hoping the team’s triumph will inspire more girls across India to chase their dreams in cricket.
