Bengaluru Police Nab Man for Sexually Harassing Woman Helping Stray Dog

In a disturbing incident in Bengaluru, Karnataka Police arrested a man accused of sexually harassing a young woman who was rescuing an injured stray dog. The accused, identified as Manjunath, faces charges of sexual harassment after the woman bravely filed a complaint.

The episode unfolded on September 7 around 11:50 p.m. in the Amrutahalli police station area. The victim, an animal lover, spotted a stray dog crying in pain after a vehicle hit it. She pulled over her car, got out, and saved the dog from the roadside. As she did this, Manjunath rode by on his bike and noticed her.

Moments later, while the woman washed bloodstains from her hands at a nearby petrol bunk, Manjunath returned on his bike. He approached her, touched her inappropriately—specifically her private parts—and sped off. Shaken but determined, the woman headed straight to Amrutahalli police station to report the sexual harassment in Bengaluru.

Police took the complaint seriously and launched a manhunt. They tracked down Manjunath and arrested him on Monday. Officials have registered a case under sexual harassment laws and are probing further details. "We acted quickly to ensure justice for the victim," a police source said.

This isn’t the first such case in Bengaluru this year. Back in June, another shocking sexual harassment incident near the city went viral after CCTV footage surfaced on social media. On June 23, a woman shopping for groceries in Renuka Yellamma Layout, about 12 km from Bengaluru in the rural district, faced a horrifying ordeal around 4 p.m.

A group of men blocked her path, followed her, and tried to touch and talk to her aggressively. When she resisted, one of them slapped her hard, as captured on the CCTV camera. The men then beat her up in full public view while she fought back desperately. Locals and a friend rushed to her rescue, pulling her away from the attackers.

But the drama didn’t end there. The accused men later barged into her neighborhood and assaulted the residents who had helped her. Police arrested two suspects—John Richard (23) and his father, Kanika Swamy—after the viral video sparked outrage. Surprisingly, the woman’s friend, who had beaten up one of the harassers in the chaos, also got arrested for his actions.

These back-to-back sexual harassment cases in Bengaluru highlight the growing need for women’s safety in public spaces. Authorities urge victims to report incidents immediately and promise swift action. Stay tuned for updates as investigations continue.
