Delhi Police Nab Notorious Rapist Guddu in Tense Night Encounter
In a dramatic late-night operation, Delhi Police arrested a wanted criminal linked to a rape case after a high-stakes chase and shootout near Shalimar Bagh. The suspect, identified as Guddu, got injured in the leg during the encounter with the North-West District Special Staff team. Officials confirmed the arrest happened around 1 AM on Thursday near Kuda Khatta in AU Block, close to the Munak Nahar.
Guddu isn’t just any suspect—he’s a notorious figure with a string of serious crimes on his record, including rape, attempted murder, and armed robbery. He had been on the run after getting bail in an August 2025 attempt to murder case (FIR No. 279/25) at Shalimar Bagh police station. Acting on a tip-off, Head Constable Satya Narender alerted the team, led by Inspector Somveer Singh and supervised by ACP Ranjeet Dhaka of the Operation Cell.
The police set up a trap in the area, and soon spotted a suspicious man emerging from the CA Block jhuggis heading toward Ekta Camp. Their informer confirmed it was Guddu. When Senior Inspector Sumit Kalkal ordered him to surrender, Guddu bolted along the Munak Nahar, trying to escape back to the jhuggis. Inspector Somveer Singh jumped into action, chasing him on foot while shouting warnings and identifying himself as police.
Things heated up fast during the pursuit. Guddu whipped out a country-made pistol and fired at the officers, aiming to harm them. Luckily, one bullet hit Head Constable Narsi Ram’s bulletproof jacket, leaving him unharmed. Head Constable Satya Narender responded by firing a warning shot into the air and demanding surrender again. But Guddu tried to reload, so Narender took a precise shot at his lower body, hitting him in the right leg. That brought the chase to an end, and the team quickly nabbed him.
They rushed Guddu to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for treatment. From the scene, police recovered the pistol, one empty cartridge, and one live round. During initial questioning, Guddu confessed to his role in the Shalimar Bagh rape case and admitted to other crimes. With his long history of offenses, investigators are now digging into possible links to more unsolved cases.
