KTR Slams Rahul Gandhi Over MLA ‘Theft’ and Unkept Student Promises in Telangana
Hyderabad, Telangana: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, didn’t hold back on Monday as he fired sharp criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Calling him a hypocrite, KTR accused the Congress party of poaching 10 MLAs from BRS, a move he labeled as a bigger crime than any vote theft.
In an exclusive chat with , KTR demanded immediate action from the Speaker to disqualify these MLAs. "Rahul Gandhi keeps talking about vote theft, but let me remind him—stealing MLAs is far worse," KTR said. He pointed out the irony: "Your own PCC president is boasting about 10 people joining Congress. How long can you dodge the Supreme Court and escape accountability? Stop the hypocrisy! You preach about the Constitution and anti-defection laws, but your actions tell a different story. The Speaker must disqualify them right away."
This isn’t the first time political defections in Telangana have sparked controversy. BRS, once in power, has seen several leaders switch sides since Congress took over the state in 2023. KTR’s outburst highlights the ongoing tensions between the two parties, with anti-defection rules under the spotlight.
KTR didn’t stop there. He turned his guns on the Congress-led Telangana government for failing students. Over 13 lakh students are struggling because the government hasn’t released more than Rs 8,000 crore in scholarships and fee reimbursements. "Congress swept to power in 2023 with big promises to Telangana’s youth. But today, they’re breaking even the basics," KTR fumed. He explained how delayed payments are forcing families to face harassment from college managements, leaving students in a tough spot.
"Rahul Gandhi and Congress, it’s time for answers," KTR urged. "Rahul should step in immediately, and the state government must release at least Rs 2,000 crore without delay. This is our demand for the students of Telangana."
As Telangana’s political scene heats up ahead of future elections, KTR’s call for accountability on defections and student welfare could resonate with voters frustrated by unfulfilled promises. Stay tuned for more updates on Telangana politics and Rahul Gandhi’s response.
