The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) just swept Bihar, and Darbhanga district proved to be a powerhouse for the coalition, giving the BJP and Janata Dal (United) a clean sweep in all nine assembly seats.
Alinagar – Bhojpuri singer‑turned‑politician Maithili Thakur ran the BJP ticket and beat RJD’s Binod Mishra by 11,730 votes. The seat was hot‑wired for the BJP, and Thakur’s win kept the momentum going.
Bahadurpur – Former cabinet minister Madan Sahani of JDU defeated RJD’s close aide Bhola Yadav. Sahani’s margin was an astonishing 12,011 votes, showing the party’s strong local base.
Benipur – JDU’s Binay Kumar Choudhary held off Congress’s Mithilesh Kumar Choudhary with a 13,603‑vote lead.
Darbhanga – Sanjay Saraogi, a seasoned BJP cabinet minister, trounced VIP’s Umesh Sahani by 24,593 votes, underlining the party’s dominance in the city.
Darbhanga Rural – JDU’s Ratenesh Kumar Mandal bested RJD’s Lalit Kumar Yadav by 18,453 votes, securing a solid win in the rural area.
Gaura Bauram – A brief standoff between RJD and VIP ended when the VIP candidate withdrew. BJP’s Sujit Singh now leads by 5,253 votes after 20 rounds of counting; only two rounds remain. VIP’s Santosh Sahani garnered just 381 votes.
Hayaghat – BJP’s Ram Chandra Prasad comfortably defeated CPIM’s Shyam Bihari, with a margin of 11,839 votes.
Jale – Jibesh Kumar, a former BJP cabinet minister, won over Congress’s Rishi Mishra by a massive 21,862 votes, reinforcing the party’s strength in the region.
Keoti – BJP’s Murari Mohan Jha secured the seat with a 7,305‑vote margin against Faraz Fatmi of RJD, the son of former minister Ali Ashraf Fatmi.
Overall, Darbhanga’s nine seats gave the NDA a perfect score, boosting its statewide dominance in Bihar’s recent election. The clear victories across the district highlight the coalition’s broad appeal and strong organizational presence, setting a positive tone for the political future in the state.
