MP: BJP slams Kharge for his remarks on PM Modi’s friendship with Trump

BJP Fires Back at Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge for Calling PM Modi ‘Enemy of the Nation’

In a heated political clash, the Madhya Pradesh BJP strongly hit back at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday. Kharge had sparked controversy by labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an "enemy of the nation" during a speech in Kalaburagi on Sunday. The remarks came while discussing US tariffs and ties between Modi and former US President Donald Trump.

Senior BJP leader and Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Sarang slammed Kharge’s comments, calling them a direct insult to the nation and its people. "Making such remarks against PM Modi is undoubtedly an insult to this nation and to its people," Sarang told reporters. He took a sharp dig at Kharge’s position in Congress, saying, "Even after becoming the national president, he needs permission from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to enter his room. He should evaluate his own position before insulting PM Modi and the people of India."

Sarang went further, accusing the opposition of ignoring public sentiments. "Congress neither cares about the people nor about their problems. They are only doing politics to serve their own political interests," he added. This comes amid ongoing political rivalries in Madhya Pradesh, where BJP and Congress often trade barbs over national issues.

The national BJP leadership joined the attack, focusing on Kharge’s past statements about farmers. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya shared a video clip on X (formerly Twitter) to highlight what he called Congress’s "legendary insensitivity" toward farmers. "Next time Rahul Gandhi or Congress pretend to speak for farmers, remind them of this—their own President Mallikarjun Kharge mocked farmers’ pain and told them ‘not to whine and seek publicity all the time.’ This is the legendary insensitivity of Congress that pushed farmers to despair for decades," Malviya wrote.

Malviya praised PM Modi’s efforts to support farmers, contrasting them with Congress’s approach. "It took Prime Minister Modi to usher in a real revolution—helping farmers diversify, double their incomes, protect crops against seasonal risks, and embrace modern farming techniques. Congress mocked, PM Modi delivered," he added. These comments highlight BJP’s push to showcase Modi’s farmer welfare schemes, like income doubling initiatives and crop insurance, as key achievements ahead of elections.

Kharge’s original remarks targeted Modi’s handling of US trade relations. Addressing reporters in Kalaburagi, the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition said, "He (Trump) and PM Modi can be friends, but PM Modi has become an enemy of the nation. He spoiled the atmosphere." He suggested the two leaders supported each other for votes, amid discussions on US tariffs affecting Indian exports.

This exchange underscores the growing tensions between BJP and Congress on national security, farmer issues, and international relations. As political debates heat up in India, both parties are ramping up their attacks to rally supporters. Stay tuned for more updates on this political controversy.
