MP CM blasts Congress during Kisan Sammelan in Bhopal

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took to the stage at his own home in Bhopal on Saturday, addressing a crowd of more than 2,500 farmers. He was loud and clear: the Congress party has done little for farmers during its long rule, and now it only creates drama to distract people.

Yadav called the opposition “Nalayak Congress,” a Hindi word meaning “worthless.” He added, “I feel like saying that, but I have to speak carefully.” His remarks drew sharp attention from the crowd and the media.

The meeting was part of the Kisan Sammelan, a farmers’ forum aimed at spotlighting the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, a price‑difference scheme for soybean growers. Madhya Pradesh, which produces about 60 % of India’s soybeans across 66 lakh hectares, has seen crop prices fall after an oversupply and erratic weather. Many farmers currently sell their produce below the government’s minimum support price (MSP) of ₹5,328 per quintal.

Under the new scheme, the state will calculate an average market price and then pay the difference directly into farmers’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This move is expected to cushion farmers from volatile market swings.

Yadav didn’t stop there. He announced a 90 % subsidy on solar pumps for farming, reinforcing the BJP‑led government’s push to bring solar energy to the fields. The state plans to hand out millions of solar pumps, some at a high subsidy or even free, to cut electricity costs and improve irrigation. Alongside this, the government is rolling out solar feeders for farms and creating opportunities for farmers to generate and sell excess solar power.

The CM’s speech highlighted the state’s focus on tangible benefits for growers, while also sharpening criticism of the Congress party’s record on farmer welfare.
