Bhopal, Dec 11 (LatestNewsX) – The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to dismiss IAS officer Santosh Verma after evidence emerged that his promotion may have been arranged using forged documents. A departmental inquiry found that his actions breached service regulations, according to a government release on Thursday.
The General Administration Department (GAD), acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, recommended Verma’s termination from the Indian Administrative Service to the central authorities.
In the statement, officials accused him of using fake promotion orders to move him from the State Administrative Service into the IAS cadre.
Criminal proceedings tied to these allegations are already underway in several courts.
The investigation revealed that Verma secured an integrity certificate on falsified papers. His answer to the show‑cause notice was considered inadequate, and officials noted that he continued to make indecent and provocative remarks even during the hearing.
Consequently, the state will file a formal charge sheet against him under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
Verma has been at the center of several controversies in recent months. Reports from Indore courts claim that he allegedly colluded with a judge to fabricate verdicts, aiming to secure a clean acquittal in a domestic dispute that would pave the way for his IAS promotion.
Sources say he tampered with judicial records to qualify for promotion through the Departmental Promotion Committee.
Beyond the forgery claims, Verma has drawn criticism for inflammatory comments at public events. A viral video showed him making incendiary statements, earning severe backlash from community groups and the judiciary.
The government labeled these remarks as “serious misconduct” and a violation of service conduct rules, reinforcing the grounds for disciplinary action.
In line with the Chief Minister’s directive, the GAD has removed Verma from his role as Deputy Secretary in the Agriculture Department.
He is now attached to the GAD pool without any assignment or responsibilities, effectively sidelining him from active administration.
By recommending his dismissal to the Centre and moving forward with departmental charges, the state affirms that fraudulent promotions and misconduct will not be tolerated.
The final decision rests with the Union government, which will determine whether to proceed with Verma’s removal from the IAS.
