Indore – Dec 4 (LatestNewsX) – The Madhya Pradesh High Court, hearing the case on Thursday, instructed the Indore Police Commissioner to open a departmental inquiry into the actions of the officer in charge at Chandan Nagar Police Station. The court also ordered that a criminal case be registered against the Thana In‑charge, Indramani Patel, and other officers who had illegally “detaining”, “handcuffing” and “harassing” a man while he was in a salon in the city.
The man in question is Raja Dube, 32, the son of Sanjay Dube, a 62‑year‑old real‑estate developer from Indore who has been named under the POCSO Act after a minor girl alleged that he sexually abused and impregnated her. The woman, an employee at Dube’s firm, filed an FIR at Chandan Nagar on 12 November, and Dube has since fled the jurisdiction.
In the absence of a formal arrest of Sanjay Dube, the police at Chandan Nagar held Raja for more than 30 hours on 27–28 November. Raja’s lawyer, Neeraj Soni, brought a Habeas Corpus petition before the Indore bench. During the hearing, Justices Vijay Kumar Shukla and B. K. Dwivedi asked TI Patel why Raja had been detained. Patel replied that Raja was handcuffed because the police station door was open and the man could have escaped; the court remarked that he should have been shackled too.
Soni further reported that at a previous hearing the bench had requested both the state counsel and TI Patel to present CCTV footage from Chandan Nagar. After viewing the tape, the judges said they had enough evidence to implicate TI Patel and demanded a clear explanation for the 30‑hour custody, which the officer failed to provide. The footage clearly showed the unlawful detention of Raja. Consequently, the bench directed the Indore Police Commissioner to file a criminal case against TI Patel and to initiate an internal investigation into the officers involved.
