The alleged crime took place last Saturday when a 23‑year‑old man reportedly lured the child with chocolates before assaulting her. The victim, who suffered serious injuries, is presently receiving care at AIIMS Bhopal; she was moved from the intensive care unit to a regular ward on Sunday. Doctors have reported that she is stable yet critical. Hundreds of people, including women and children, closed the Mandideep‑Bhopal route for several hours—causing traffic disruptions between noon and 3 p.m. Footage of clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement surfaced online, prompting authorities to use limited force to disperse the crowd. In response, officials deployed more than 300 officers and offered a Rs 20,000 reward for information that would lead to the accused’s arrest. Posters featuring the suspect’s photo now cover public spaces and vehicles. ASP Kamlesh Kumar Kharpuse urged residents to respect law and order while announced that multiple squads are conducting sweeps at all potential locations. Former Chief Minister and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the atrocity, calling for a swift, expedited trial. “Justice must be delivered at the earliest,” he stated.
