“My heart is shattered…”: TVK chief Vijay’s first reaction to Karur stampede, offers condolences

Actor Vijay, the head of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), shared his deep heartbreak on social media after a deadly stampede at his political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu. The tragic crowd crush on Saturday claimed 36 lives, including eight children and 16 women, leaving the nation in shock.
In a moving post on X, Vijay wrote that his “heart is shattered” by the unbearable pain of the loss. He offered his deepest condolences to the families of those who died, calling them “my dear brothers and sisters.” Vijay also prayed for a quick recovery for the injured now receiving hospital treatment.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin responded quickly to the Karur stampede tragedy. He announced Rs 10 lakh in compensation for each family of the victims. Those hurt in the incident will get Rs 1 lakh each to help with medical costs.
Stalin went further by setting up a one-member Commission of Inquiry. Retired High Court Judge Aruna Jagadeesan will lead it to investigate the Tamil Nadu rally stampede and report back to the government soon.
In his official statement, the Chief Minister expressed profound sorrow over the “irreplaceable” lives lost. He sent condolences to the grieving families and promised top-notch medical care for everyone in hospitals. “This heartbreaking news has shaken us all,” Stalin said, vowing full government support.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also weighed in on the Karur tragedy via X. He called the incident “deeply saddening” and shared his thoughts with the families mourning their loved ones. Modi wished strength to those affected and prayed for a speedy recovery for the injured in the Tamil Nadu stampede.
