Navy Chief to commission new base INS Aravali in Gurugram tomorrow

Indian Navy Boosts Maritime Security with New INS Aravali Base in Gurugram

In a big step for India’s naval strength, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi is set to commission the new communications base INS Aravali in Gurugram on Friday. This move highlights the Indian Navy’s push for better command, control, and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) across the country.

Named after the sturdy Aravali mountain range, INS Aravali will back up key information and communication centers for the Navy. It fits right into India’s overall maritime security framework, helping keep a sharp eye on ocean activities. The base’s motto, "Maritime Security through Collaboration," shows its focus on teamwork with other naval units, MDA centers, and partners.

The base’s crest features a central mountain image that stands for the unshakeable Aravali Range. It also includes a rising sun, symbolizing constant vigilance, toughness, and fresh tech advances in communications and MDA. All this reflects the base’s strong promise to guard India’s sea interests around the clock.

In other exciting defense news from the same day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni via video call from New Delhi. A team of 10 women officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force will sail over 26,000 nautical miles in this historic trip—the first tri-service global expedition led entirely by women.

"This marks the first time women officers from all three services are teaming up to sail around the world under one flag and one goal," Singh said. He praised their spirit, adding, "I’m sure our daughters will finish this strong and prove that Indian women’s bravery has no limits. It’s more than a sea journey—it’s a test of discipline, courage, and grit. You might face storms, isolation, tiredness, or doubt, but your inner fire will win every time. When you return, you’ll bring back not just a world tour but a proud new record for India."

The boat officially set off on September 11, kicking off this inspiring adventure that spotlights women’s roles in India’s armed forces.
