Mumbai, Dec 10 – Actor Mohit Sehgal, best known for his roles in Miley Jab Hum Tum, Sarojini – Ek Nayi Pehal, and Naagin 5, celebrated his 40th birthday by sharing a heartfelt Instagram post about why he feels “turning 40 feels big.” He reflected on life, love, and everyone who’s stood by him along the way.
Mohit posted a series of snaps from a low‑key getaway with his wife, Sanaya Irani, whom he first met on the sets of Miley Jab Hum Tum back in 2008. One picture shows the couple sharing a gentle kiss, while a short video captures him blowing out a candle on his birthday cake, adding a cozy touch to the celebration.
He began the note with, “Turning 40 feels big, maybe because my life has been full of big feelings, big dreams, and big love. I was brought up with an extreme amount of love, and I have always tried not to take that for granted.” The actor admitted he’s “always been a little emotional, a little reserved, and honestly not the best at studies,” but added that he’s always been ambitious—sometimes overly so—and that he dreams big. “Life gave me some of those dreams.”
Speaking about his debut show, Mohit recalled how Miley Jab Hum Tum—a story about college romance and lifelong bonds—propelled him into success and brought him the love of his life. He also noted the roller‑coaster nature of his career and the recent loss of his father, a man he had cared for for many years. Through it all, he says, Sanaya has been his steadfast anchor.
“Through all of it, my wife stood by me even when I wasn’t around, even when life didn’t go as planned, even when we had to let go of certain dreams. I’m so grateful for her and our little family with Chief and Gus,” he wrote. He also thanked his friends, calling them his “chosen family,” and noted that they have seen him at his best and his worst, still celebrating with him.
Looking forward, Mohit mused that he now lives a more modest life than the one he imagined at 20. “Today, I stand here living a simple life, maybe simpler than the one I dreamt of at 20, but far richer in the ways that actually matter.” He added that he has love, supporters, a chance to rebuild, and the opportunity to move into the next chapter with more honesty, humility, and gratitude than ever before.
“If turning 40 has taught me anything, it’s the ‘dreams are beautiful, but the people who stay with you while you chase them they’re the real miracle,’ and I’m blessed with so many miracles in my life,” Mohit shared. “Thank you for loving me, for supporting me, and for helping me become the man I am today. Here’s to the next chapter—may it be kinder, truer, and filled with even more love. Thank you everybody for your wishes; I feel truly blessed.”
He also mentioned that he and Sanaya squeezed together a quick birthday trip, joking that they were “exhausted from our flight and just about managed to get a pastry before everything shut to celebrate my bring in at 12.” Mohit capped the post with a playful note: “Also this is me managing to post a Birthday thank you one week after my actual birthday. Promise to post better pictures minus me in boxers after this. Cheers @sanayairani.”
