HM Shah unveils Gujarati edition of ex-CM Anandiben Patel’s biography ‘Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hai’

Ahmedabad, Dec 7 – The Gujarati version of “Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hai,” the biography of Gujarat’s first woman Chief Minister and present Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, was launched in the city. The event, which drew Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and spiritual figure Ramesh Oza, marked the unveiling of the book.
During the ceremony, HM Shah praised Anandiben’s life as a beacon of resolve and perseverance, noting how her path from a humble upbringing to roles as a schoolteacher, MLA, minister, Gujarat Chief Minister and governor of three states exemplifies the power of Indian womanhood. He highlighted her focus on purpose over position, applauding her key contributions to strengthening the BJP’s structure and her energetic service as Uttar Pradesh’s governor. At eighty‑five, he underlined her drive to improve the education system and to ensure that government schemes reach their intended beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel remarked on Anandiben’s decisiveness, administrative acumen, and steadfast commitment to public welfare, which left an indelible mark on Gujarat. He pointed to her tenure as Chief Minister, remembered for robust governance, educational reforms, women’s empowerment, water management and overall development. The title “Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hai”, he added, mirrors her fearless approach to obstacles and serves as an inspiration for young women across the state.
Anandiben herself recounted her beginnings as a teacher and her entry into public life during drought relief efforts. She credited the BJP for shaping her political journey and announced that book proceeds would support girls’ education. She also outlined her ongoing initiatives as governor, aiming to raise educational standards from anganwadis to universities.
Ramesh Oza described Anandiben as a living testament to women’s strength and service, stating that her life embodies courage, discipline and social dedication. He called the biography a guide for anyone facing adversity.
Family members Sanjay Patel and Anar Patel spoke at the gathering, sharing personal anecdotes that highlighted Anandiben’s fearlessness and moral clarity. The event was roundly attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, cabinet ministers, former Deputy CM Nitin Patel, Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain, education leaders and representatives from various social and political organisations.
