Patna, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) – The chief minister, Nitish Kumar, surprised a group of officials with an unplanned site visit to the Mandiri drainage line in Patna earlier this week. He was joined by Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, District Magistrate Tyajrajan SM, Divisional Commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh and several senior officers.
During the stop‑over, Kumar voiced strong frustration about the stalled progress of the Mandiri Nala project. He asked the team directly, “I have visited this site multiple times. Why has the work still not been completed? You were present here last time as well. Complete the work as soon as possible.” He inspected the entire stretch himself to assess how far the work had advanced and gave explicit orders to fast‑track the remaining tasks so that completion falls within the set deadline.
After discussing the Mandiri works, the minister turned his attention to the Rajiv Nagar underground drainage scheme. He urged the responsible officers to accelerate construction, noting that the finished system would greatly curb waterlogging. He also pointed out that building a two‑lane road over the drain would ease traffic flow and give the city a cleaner look.
Later, the chief minister toured several other development projects spread across the urban area of Patna. He examined the building of an underground drainage channel and a four‑lane road along the Serpentine Drain, running from Patel Golambar to the western tip of Eco Park and from the east side of the park to Atal Path. Officials explained that the plan includes laying paving on the drain itself and constructing a road over it. Kumar highlighted the need for rapid completion of both the drainage repair and the roadway to improve public transport movement and overall urban infrastructure. He emphasized that timely delivery of such projects is crucial for ending recurrent waterlogging problems and upgrading Patna’s road network.
