No corruption will be tolerated in land acquisition process, warns Arunachal CM Khandu

Itanagar, Nov. 1 – Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu told a crowd that the state will not tolerate corruption. His words came after news of alleged misuse of public money in the land‑acquisition phase of the Frontier Highway’s Lada‑to‑Sarli stretch.

Khandu spoke during the foundation‑stone ceremony of the new Grong Buddha Park in West Kameng district. He said he learned of the money‑misappropriation when he returned from a visit to Delhi. “I ordered an independent committee to investigate immediately,” he said. “Within a day or two we will suspend anyone found responsible and start a thorough enquiry.”

The highway, a major state project that required many meetings with the central government, is now at risk. Khandu called the alleged “nonsense act” and warned that anyone caught — whether a government worker or a private citizen — will face action.

He praised West Kameng for completing its land‑acquisition in a fair and transparent way. “Leave it to West Kameng to set an example for other districts along the highway,” he told the audience. He thanked local residents for their cooperation and hoped the new Grong Buddha Park will attract tourists.

The park, envisioned as a blend of spirituality and development, will feature a large Buddha statue, a monastery, stupas, a museum, water features, a guest house, hostel, library, cafe, and more. When finished, it will boost tourism and local livelihoods.

In addition to the park, Khandu launched three new apps to help the community: “Yakatopia” for tourism information, “Choo‑mantar” to educate children on body safety, and “YodhaBandhu” for youth drug‑abuse counseling.

He also opened a new police station in Singchung, a police building in Bhalukpong, a new academic block at the Government Higher Secondary School in Singchun, and three road projects. A total of 21 new projects received foundation stones, with the CM urging timely completion without cutting corners.

Home Minister Mama Natung, five Tawang and West Kameng MLAs — including host Tenzin Nyima Glow — were present for the event. The CM’s strong stance on corruption and his push for development aims to keep Arunachal Pradesh on a forward path while restoring public trust.
