Noida Authority launches one-month drive to improve village sanitation, water, and roads

In a push to boost basic services in Noida’s crowded villages, the city’s authorities have launched a one‑month clean‑up and repair campaign. The plan targets key infrastructure such as sewer systems, sanitation, water supply and road conditions.

The campaign kicked off after a review meeting on Friday chaired by chief executive officer Lokesh M. Officials discussed drainage, sewer lines, garbage disposal and overall public hygiene. They set a clear schedule to deliver visible results by the end of the month.

The first phase covers nine villages: Baraula, Sadarpur, Chhalera, Gijhore, Sarfabad, Salarpur, Morna, Yakubpur and Bhangel. City crews will:

* Clean sewer lines and manholes in every village.
* Install small sump wells and pump sets at spots that frequently overflow, stopping sewage from spilling onto roads.
* Upgrade short sewer pipes and link them to larger mains after new population surveys.
* Build mini sewage pumping stations on village outskirts.

The Public Health Department will desilt all drains within 30 days. Areas that usually water‑log will receive extra cleaning and bleaching powder to control germs. Broken or clogged drains will be fixed quickly, and community‑built covers on drains will be removed to allow deep cleaning.

Solid‑waste management will get a boost too. More door‑to‑door garbage trucks will be deployed based on village size. In regions with many cattle, a cow‑dung plan will introduce biogas units or other green options.

The city will also clear illegal piles of garbage from vacant plots and outer village borders and put up warning signs. Waste collectors will use double dustbins every day, and collection trucks will run two rounds in each village.

“No idea is just a clean‑up. We’re aiming for long‑term fixes,” the Noida Authority said. Officials will track every task to keep it on schedule.

The review meeting was attended by senior staff, including Additional CEO Krishna Karunesh, Special Officer Mahendra Prasad, General Managers A.K. Arora, S.P. Singh and R.P. Indu Prakash, along with heads from other departments.
