Odisha’s Governor, Hari Babu Kambhampati, visited Gujarat on Sunday to meet Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. The Governor was in the state for the “Bharat Parv” celebrations at Ekta Nagar, which mark the 150th birth anniversary of independence icon Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of national unity, ran from November 8 to 15 and featured the “Ekta Prakash Parv” theme.
The week‑long festivities in Ekta Nagar, located in the Narmada district, drew artists, dignitaries and visitors from across India. They showcased India’s “Unity in Diversity” at cultural shows and exhibitions under the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” program. Odisha artists performed at the parade, with Governor Kambhampati honored as the Guest of Honour. He toured the site, stopping by the statue of Unity – the world’s tallest statue – the Ekta Light Festival, Sardar Sarovar River Bed Power House, a butterfly park, the food court, a handicraft bazaar, and several themed pavilions.
The Governor praised the Gujarat government for turning Ekta Nagar into a world‑class tourism hotspot. He thanked Chief Minister Patel’s administration for superb arrangements that welcome artists, artisans and visitors, and highlighted the state’s cultural and infrastructure projects that promote national unity. In return, the Chief Minister presented a memento to the Governor as a symbol of respect and goodwill.
The visit also saw Additional Chief Secretary Vijaymaha Singh greet the dignitary, adding a warm welcome to the meeting.
Later that day, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi opened a modern Civil Court building in Uchhal, Tapi district. At an estimated cost of ₹7 crore, the new facility aims to make judicial services more accessible to local citizens. Sanghavi highlighted the building as a milestone for the border region with Maharashtra, a unique area where even the railway platform offers a view of both states. He noted that, despite administrative challenges, the Tapi judiciary has successfully upheld law and order.
These events underline Gujarat’s commitment to cultural unity and public service, drawing attention from national leaders and citizens alike.
