Odisha: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attends 11th foundation day of IIM Sambalpur

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited IIM Sambalpur in Odisha on Thursday to mark the institute’s 11th foundation day. He praised the school’s rapid growth and gave a warm welcome to the bright students who traveled from all over India after acing tough entrance exams.
“I congratulate IIM Sambalpur on its progress,” Pradhan told reporters. “I chatted with the students—they’re incredibly talented. They’ve come here from across the country after passing the entrance exam. I welcome them.”
Pradhan also shared Dussehra greetings with everyone during his visit.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his Vijayadashami wishes to the nation on social media platform X. “Vijayadashami symbolizes the victory of good and truth over evil and untruth,” Modi posted. “On this sacred day, may we all draw inspiration to keep moving forward with courage, wisdom, and devotion. Warmest Vijayadashami greetings to my fellow countrymen.”
Dussehra, or Vijayadashami, ranks as one of India’s most cherished Hindu festivals, celebrated this year on October 2. It honors the triumph of good over evil, drawing from the epic tale of Lord Rama defeating the demon king Ravana. This story stands for truth and righteousness beating out arrogance and wrongdoing.
Across India, people mark the occasion in vibrant ways. A highlight includes burning huge effigies of Ravana, his son Meghnad, and brother Kumbhkaran to represent the end of evil.
In Jabalpur, women added their own colorful touch to Dussehra festivities at the Siddhiwala Bus Library Association. They played Sindoor Khela, applying red vermillion to each other in front of the Durga idol. This joyful ritual bids farewell to the goddess after her 10-day stay, wrapping up the Navratri celebrations on this special day.
