Families of Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims Slam India-Pakistan Cricket Match
In the heart of Gujarat’s Bhavnagar, grief-stricken families of those killed in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack are speaking out against the upcoming India vs Pakistan cricket clash. They feel heartbroken and betrayed, especially after the government’s bold Operation Sindoor. The victims’ loved ones say the news of the match has reopened their fresh wounds from the April 22 tragedy in Jammu and Kashmir, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists gunned down 26 innocent tourists.
Sawan Parmar, who tragically lost his father and 16-year-old brother in the attack, couldn’t hold back his pain. "When we heard about the India-Pakistan match, it hit us hard. We want no ties with Pakistan at all," he told . His brother suffered multiple bullet wounds, and Sawan questions the point of everything now. "If you’re going to play this game, give me back my brother. Operation Sindoor feels like a total waste," he added, his voice filled with raw emotion.
Echoing his words, Sawan’s mother, Kiran Yatish Parmar, directly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "This match shouldn’t happen. PM Modi, if Operation Sindoor isn’t finished, why allow an India vs Pakistan game? Our families are still hurting—visit us and see the sadness," she urged. Kiran emphasized that the pain from the Pahalgam terror attack runs deep, and playing cricket with Pakistan only adds salt to the wound.
The backlash against the cricket fixture has grown louder since the deadly Pahalgam attack. Many across India call for a boycott of the India-Pakistan match, arguing it dishonors the victims and ignores the ongoing threat from cross-border terrorism. Emotions run high, with people demanding stronger action over sports ties.
Even former Indian all-rounder and BJP leader Kedar Jadhav has joined the chorus. Speaking to reporters, he said, "I don’t know what will happen, but in my view, India shouldn’t play this match against Pakistan." His stance highlights the divide between cricket fans and those prioritizing national security after such a brutal terror strike.
As debates rage on social media and beyond, these families’ pleas spotlight the lasting impact of the Pahalgam terror attack on everyday lives. Will the cricket board listen to the victims’ voices amid calls to boycott the India-Pakistan clash? The nation watches closely.
