Rajasthan Minister Hits Back at Opposition’s Privacy Allegation Claims in Assembly
In a fiery rebuttal during the Rajasthan Assembly session, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara dismissed opposition accusations of privacy violations as totally unfounded. Speaking in Jaipur on Friday, Godara made it clear that the ruling BJP government under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is laser-focused on building a "Developed Rajasthan," and the opposition is just grasping at straws because they can’t match the progress.
Godara highlighted how, in just 21 months, CM Sharma’s double-engine government has turbocharged development across the state. "The opposition is stunned by our solid work—they’re out of words in the Assembly, which is why the session got disrupted," he said with a chuckle. He even pointed out that State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra hasn’t been showing up to the House regularly.
The controversy kicked off when Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully raised alarms about privacy breaches in the Assembly. But Godara turned the tables, reminding everyone that such shady practices happened under the previous Congress government. "Back when Jully was a minister, the then Chief Minister faced charges of recording phone calls. When the ACS Home wouldn’t play along, they got booted out, and a yes-man was brought in who later became Chief Secretary," Godara alleged sharply.
He also defended the new camera installations in the Assembly, noting that the Congress themselves started YouTube broadcasts there, which the BJP supported at the time. "Now these cameras ensure full transparency for everyone—it’s fair play. The opposition is just stirring up drama for cheap political points," Godara added.
Wrapping up, the minister stressed that CM Sharma’s administration runs on complete openness and has the people’s full trust. "Everyone knows the opposition deliberately stalled the House with these false claims and wasted precious time. In the next session, they should focus on real issues and team up with us to create a stronger Rajasthan," he urged.
This clash underscores the ongoing tussle between Rajasthan’s ruling BJP and opposition Congress, with development and transparency at the heart of the debate.
