Patna, Dec 6 (LatestNewsX) – Patna Police clattered a gang that’d been scamming commuters by selling fake gold biscuits to unsuspecting travelers, an officer said on Saturday. The raid followed a tip received while routine patrols were underway in the Bypass area of the Agamkuan police station on Friday. SDPO Raj Kishore Singh explained that patrol teams spotted a group of dodgy youths huddled in an auto‑rickshaw, apparently plotting fraud and robbery. Acting quickly, a task force spearheaded by the Agamkuan SHO was assembled. Officers cordoned off the spot and intercepted two suspects in a tempo and two more on a scooter. All four tried to bolt, but the police pursued and nabbed them. A thorough search uncovered two counterfeit gold‑biscuits–shaped items, cash, three mobile phones, as well as a scooter and an auto‑rickshaw taken from the suspects. In interrogation, the men described how they baited auto‑rickshaw passengers with the ruse of gold biscuits; if a victim didn’t take the bait, they’d drive the passenger to a secluded spot and rob them, mostly targeting elderly women, according to SDPO Singh. The arrested men all hail from the Sultanganj Karbala sector, with one coming from Siwan. Police have identified the ringleader, Ruddam, with Sahil, Arman and Jonu as his cohorts. The gang has a history of fraud and robbery cases, and authorities are probing deeper to uncover whether more people are tied to the operation. Following the formation of the new government, Deputy Chief Minister‑cum‑Home Minister Samrat Choudhary has signalled a crackdown on crime. He stated, “Bihar is not for criminals. Anyone trying to break the law will either have to reform or leave the state.” The minister urged district officials to act fast on criminal incidents, maintain strict surveillance on illicit activities, and keep policing visible. He also reaffirmed that the NDA government enforces a zero‑tolerance policy against land, sand and liquor mafias. ajk/pgh
