Assam CM Slams Congress Over AI Video Insulting PM Modi and His Late Mother
Guwahati, Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma fired sharp words at the Congress party on Friday over an AI-generated video that shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi dreaming of his late mother, Heeraben Modi, criticizing his politics. Sarma called the video "reprehensible" and warned that Bihar voters will give Congress a tough lesson in the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Sarma said, "Whatever Congress is doing to the Prime Minister and his mother is shameful. The people of Bihar will teach them a lesson. The whole country feels outraged. In India, no one who tries to defame a mother ever succeeds."
The controversial AI video, shared by Bihar Congress, has gone viral on social media. It depicts PM Modi in a dream where his mother scolds him for using her name in politics. This comes right after another row in Bihar’s Darbhanga, where a man allegedly abused PM Modi and his mother during a Voter Adhikaar Rally. The BJP quickly hit back at opposition parties like Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), targeting leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav for the insults.
Congress has used the video to ramp up its attacks on PM Modi, portraying his late mother as unhappy with the politics done in her name. But the move has sparked widespread backlash.
PM Modi himself spoke out earlier at an event, slamming RJD and Congress for the alleged abusive remarks against his mother. He said, "Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I never imagined such a thing would happen in the tradition-rich land of Bihar. My mother, who lived to 100 and stayed away from politics, faced abuse from RJD-Congress in Bihar. This isn’t just an insult to my mother—it’s an attack on every mother, sister, and daughter in the country."
PM Modi added that he knows the pain Bihar’s people feel, just like the hurt in his own heart. He explained that he left his mother to serve the nation and other women, making the insults even more personal.
The controversy highlights the heated political rivalry in Bihar ahead of elections, with BJP defending PM Modi’s honour and vowing to make it a big issue. As the row grows, all eyes are on how voters in Bihar respond to these attacks on family and respect.
