In Chennai on Oct. 8, the Tamil Nadu branch of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released a statement praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a living example of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals. It marked the 25‑year anniversary of Modi’s rise to the top of Indian politics.
BJP state spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad called Modi “a towering testament to relentless effort and dedication.” He said the former tea‑stall helper from Vadnagar in Gujarat has shown young Indians that big dreams are possible when people work hard and stay focused.
Prasad traced Modi’s journey. Modi began his career in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), later led Gujarat as chief minister from 2001 to 2014, and helped the state transform through events like the Vibrant Gujarat investor summits. He launched the Jyotigram Yojana, which delivers 24‑hour electricity to rural homes, and called these efforts “benchmarks for inclusive growth and modern governance.”
Since taking office as Prime Minister in 2014, Modi has pushed nationwide reforms such as Make in India, Digital India, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, policies designed to boost India’s self‑reliance and empower the next generation. The BJP spokesperson highlighted that Modi helped put India “at the forefront of clean energy” by creating the International Solar Alliance and pushed forward smart‑city projects, bullet trains and other modern infrastructure.
He also praised Modi’s social welfare programmes. The Jal Jeevan Mission delivers drinking water to villages, Ayushman Bharat offers health coverage, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao protects girl children, and the government rolled out free COVID‑19 vaccines. These initiatives, Prasad said, show Modi’s “compassionate governance.”
The BJP leader noted how Modi keeps a direct line to the people with his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” radio show, and how initiatives like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Statue of Unity and the worldwide promotion of yoga and Ayurveda revive India’s cultural pride. “He is a living Vivekananda,” Prasad wrote, urging the youth to study Modi’s life as a blueprint for personal and public success.
“Our mantra of ‘Seva aur Samarpan’ urges the youth to build a Viksit Bharat – a developed, proud and self‑confident nation,” the statement concluded.
In short, the Tamil Nadu BJP conveyed that Narendra Modi’s 25‑year career exemplifies the spirit of Swami Vivekananda, shows that hard work and vision can transform a country, and inspires a new generation of Indians to dream big.
