Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off a major health drive today in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, launching the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan along with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah. This new initiative aims to boost women’s and children’s health across India in a big way.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the event live. From other parts, Union Health Minister JP Nadda tuned in from Haryana, where he opened several health camps alongside Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao. Union Ministers of State for Health, Prataprao Jadhav, connected from Mumbai’s Yashwantrao Chavan Center, while Anupriya Patel participated from Delhi’s Secretariat with Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.

The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan stands out as India’s largest health outreach program for women and children. Led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development, it runs from September 17 to October 2. Over 10 lakh health camps will pop up at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and other government spots nationwide. These camps focus on women-centric services like preventive check-ups, early disease detection, and treatments right in local communities.

Expect screenings for non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease, plus strong links to follow-up care. The drive also pushes maternal and child health through antenatal visits, vaccinations, nutrition tips, menstrual hygiene education, and awareness on lifestyle and mental health. Communities will get a nudge toward healthy habits, including fighting obesity, better eating, and encouraging voluntary blood donations.

In his speech, PM Modi highlighted how women’s health powers India’s growth. “Our mothers and sisters, the Nari Shakti, form the backbone of national progress,” he said. “A healthy mother keeps the entire family strong. That’s why this campaign dedicates itself to their well-being and a brighter future.”

He called it a massive step toward women-led development in Viksit Bharat, stressing that no woman should suffer from serious illnesses due to lack of info or access. Early checks for issues like hypertension, diabetes, anaemia, and cancer are key, as they can turn deadly if ignored. PM Modi urged women to prioritize their health and visit the free camps without worry. He made a special call to tribal women, noting sickle cell anaemia’s impact in those areas.

“All tests and medicines at these centres come free,” he added. “Our goal: No mother or daughter left out. For advanced treatment, Ayushman cards offer full protection under Suraksha Kavach.” He praised government schemes that ease women’s lives and improve health, like the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana launched in 2017. It has helped over 4.5 crore pregnant women with more than Rs 19,000 crore in direct bank transfers, aiming to cut maternal and infant mortality rates.

During the event, PM Modi handed out the one-croreth sickle cell card. He spotlighted the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Mission, started in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol, which has screened over five crore people and saved countless tribal lives.

CM Mohan Yadav thanked PM Modi for picking Dhar, a tribal hub, for the launch. He said the past 11 years under Modi’s leadership have brought huge changes to the country.

This nationwide campaign features daily health camps at all government facilities from September 17 to October 2. Chief Ministers and Governors joined launches in their states, with support from ministers, MPs, and local leaders. On the ground, ASHA workers, ANMs, Anganwadi staff, self-help groups, panchayats, urban bodies, MY Bharat volunteers, and youth teams are rallying communities for maximum reach.

This Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan promises real change in women’s health, anaemia prevention, sickle cell screening, and family wellness across India.
