Earthquake of magnitude 4.3 strikes Ladakh’s Leh

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale hit Leh in Ladakh on Sunday evening, shaking things up in the high-altitude region. The tremors struck at 8:48 PM IST, as reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the go-to body for tracking seismic activity in India.

According to NCS, the earthquake Ladakh epicenter was pinpointed at latitude 36.75 N and longitude 75.37 E, with a depth of about 150 km underground. This makes it a relatively deep quake, which often means less surface impact compared to shallower ones.

In their update on X (formerly Twitter), NCS shared: “EQ of M: 4.3, On: 14/09/2025 20:48:43 IST, Lat: 36.75 N, Long: 75.37 E, Depth: 150 Km, Location: Leh, Ladakh.”

Thankfully, there’s good news—no reports of injuries, casualties, or damage to property so far. Authorities are keeping a close watch, and we’ll bring you more updates as they come in on this Leh earthquake and Ladakh seismic event. Stay safe if you’re in the area!
