PM Modi: Odisha surging ahead with double-engine govt, projects worth thousands of crores launched (Ld)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi rallied a huge crowd in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Saturday, declaring that the state is charging ahead thanks to the double-engine government. He’s pushing hard for a “Viksit Odisha,” or developed Odisha, a goal the people pledged during elections 18 months ago.

Speaking at Amalipali Ground, Modi highlighted how Odisha is gaining speed with this teamwork between state and central governments. “About one-and-a-half years ago, during the Assembly elections, Odisha’s people made a fresh promise to build a developed state,” he said. “Now, we’re seeing real momentum, and today we’ve kicked off projects worth thousands of crores for Odisha and India’s growth.”

Modi promised Odisha’s progress will only pick up pace. He stressed his government’s dedication to helping the poor, including Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities, by providing essential services. “This event shows our commitment in action,” he added.

The Prime Minister praised Odisha’s talented people and the state’s rich natural gifts. After years of poverty, he said the next decade will bring real prosperity. To make it happen, the central government is rolling out big initiatives. Recently, it greenlit two semiconductor units for Odisha and plans a semiconductor park, tapping into the youth’s huge potential. Modi pictured Odisha making tiny chips for phones, TVs, refrigerators, computers, cars, and more.

In a proud moment for Odisha, Modi announced the launch of BSNL’s homegrown 4G network right from Jharsuguda. It includes nearly 100,000 towers to boost connectivity in far-flung areas. This move will help over 20 million people across India and connect about 30,000 villages that lacked fast internet before.

Modi called Odisha a farmers’ heartland and pointed to GST benefits as a “savings festival” for them. Back in the opposition days, buying a tractor meant paying ₹70,000 in taxes. Now, with GST reforms, it’s down to around ₹30,000—saving farmers about ₹40,000 each time.

For Odisha’s large tribal groups relying on forest products, Modi noted ongoing support for kendu leaf workers. The government has slashed GST on these leaves, helping collectors get better prices.

Overall, Modi said his team keeps strengthening India and its people through tax cuts, better connectivity, and more. Odisha is feeling the gains: six Vande Bharat trains now run here, nearly 60 railway stations are getting upgrades, Jharsuguda’s VSS Airport links to key cities nationwide, and mining revenues have jumped sharply.
