Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch two exciting new trains in Bihar’s Saharsa district on Monday, September 15. This move will greatly improve rail connectivity for locals in the area, making travel easier and faster.
The virtual inauguration will happen from Purnia via video conferencing. Saharsa Junction DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra shared the details during a station inspection on Sunday. He said the new trains include the Amrit Bharat Express, which will run directly from Saharsa to Amritsar, and the Vande Bharat Express, starting from Forbesganj, passing through Saharsa, and ending at Danapur.
“Tomorrow, Saharsa gets its first direct Amrit Bharat Express to Amritsar, plus the Vande Bharat Express zipping through here. The Prime Minister will flag them off himself,” Mishra told reporters.
In other good news, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is bringing a shiny new building to Saharsa Junction, costing Rs 44 crore. But the big reveal is on hold for now. “We’re not inaugurating the station building yet because some key works—like installing ACs in offices and the VIP lounge, plus lifts and escalators—are still wrapping up,” Mishra explained. He added that the contractor must finish everything in the next 3-4 days. Once done, passengers can look forward to modern facilities and better amenities at the station.
These new trains are a game-changer for people in the Kosi and Mithila regions, who have pushed for years for stronger rail links to big cities. The Amrit Bharat Express will help long-distance travelers reach North India more comfortably, while the Vande Bharat Express promises speedy connections between eastern and central Bihar. If you’re in Bihar or planning a trip, keep an eye on these updates for improved Indian Railways services!
