Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in a key CEO roundtable on Wednesday during the Semicon India 2025 conference. This event highlights India’s rapid push to become a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing and innovation.

The roundtable brings together top executives from leading global semiconductor companies. During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi will speak directly with industry leaders to discuss the latest trends and advancements in semiconductors. They will also explore opportunities for collaboration, investment plans, new technologies, and industry expectations.

This CEO discussion is part of the larger three-day Semicon India 2025 event, taking place from September 2 to 4 in New Delhi. The conference aims to build a strong, sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in India. Key topics include India’s Semiconductor Mission (ISM), semiconductor fabrication units, advanced packaging techniques, infrastructure development, and innovations in research and development, AI, and policy support at the state level.

Prime Minister Modi officially inaugurated the event on Tuesday, calling it a historic moment for India’s semiconductor ambitions. He explained that semiconductors are the “invisible engines” driving crucial sectors like healthcare, defense, artificial intelligence, space technology, and smart manufacturing.

India launched the Semiconductor Mission in 2021, backed by a Rs 76,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. So far, about Rs 65,000 crore has been committed to ten major semiconductor projects, including high-volume chip manufacturing plants, Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology, advanced packaging, and outsourcing facilities.

Through initiatives like Semicon India, the government aims to attract global investments, boost innovation, and cut down India’s reliance on imports in this critical sector. This effort is a big step toward making India a worldwide semiconductor manufacturing and innovation hub.
