Arunachal trading body hails GST reforms, expresses satisfaction after interacting with PM Modi in Itanagar

In Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, business leaders cheered the latest GST reforms on Monday, calling them a big win for traders and everyday consumers. Tarh Nachung, president of the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACC&I), shared his excitement after a personal chat with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 25-minute meeting felt like a game-changer for local trade, Nachung said. They dove into the new GST setup, now streamlined into just two simple slabs: 5% and 18%. This GST rate cut will help shopkeepers, families, and industries—from insurance to construction gear and even private vehicle owners—keep more money in their pockets.

Many folks in Arunachal’s remote areas didn’t know much about GST before, but the state government is now spreading the word across all 28 districts. That way, traders and buyers alike can cash in on these changes. Nachung called the talk with PM Modi “very valuable,” adding that the prime minister broke down exactly how the reforms boost businesses and make life easier for consumers.

The interaction happened during the “GST Bachat Utsav,” a special event where PM Modi highlighted the perks of the fresh GST rate reductions kicking in that day. He told the crowd these updates would lift up the poor, middle class, women, farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs. “Let’s celebrate a grand GST Bachat Utsav,” he urged, promising it would mark a joyful milestone for everyone.

Before a huge public rally at Indira Gandhi Park, PM Modi laid foundation stones for 13 development projects worth over Rs 5,127 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. He rallied the audience with the slogan, “Garv se kahen, yeh swadeshi hai” (Proudly say, this is indigenous). Thousands lit up their phone flashlights in response, creating an electric vibe.

PM Modi also stopped by an exhibition showcasing local products, chatting with traders, craftspersons, and artisans. True to his push for Ease of Doing Business and a thriving startup scene, he met with taxpayers and industry reps to talk about the GST rationalization’s real-world impact.

With festive season in full swing, the prime minister called this a “double bonanza” for citizens. He spotlighted how the GST Savings Festival would bring joy, prosperity, and success to Indian families. Noting the strong turnout of women, he congratulated them again and stressed the reforms’ huge upside for households—slashing monthly bills on essentials like kitchen items, kids’ school supplies, shoes, and clothes.

Many key goods are now GST-free, while taxes on others have dropped sharply. Building a home, buying a scooter or bike, eating out, or hitting the road for a trip? All cheaper now, PM Modi pointed out. These next-gen GST reforms make affordability a reality for more people across India.
