Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened Chhattisgarh’s brand‑new legislative complex in Raipur on the state’s 25th Foundation Day, weaving together myth, politics and progress. In a ceremony held in the gleaming Assembly hall of Nava Raipur, Modi told lawmakers that the new building was more than a structure – it was a “temple” where the ideals of Lord Ram would guide the future of India.
During the inaugural session, Modi recalled Chhattisgarh as the “maternal home of Lord Shri Ram.” He linked the historic god’s virtues to modern governance, saying that “Ram se Rashtra” means inclusive growth and that the nation should be free from poverty, disease and discrimination. “Ram” symbolizes a society where everyone can live with dignity, and where “anti‑human” forces like Naxalism are defeated, he urged.
The Prime Minister called on the state assembly to become a breathing example of Ram Rajya – a government that puts farmers, women, tribal communities and young people at the centre. “Every law, debate and decision should reflect this ideal,” he said, stressing that accountability and transparency must be built into the halls of power.
Modi also honored Chhattisgarh’s tribal heritage. He mentioned the Muria Darbar’s democratic spirit and the teachings of social reformer Guru Ghasidas and saint Kabir, whose works decorate the new complex. By invoking “Nagarik Devo Bhava” – the idea that a citizen is “god” – he reinforced the notion that government serves the people.
The new Assembly complex, a Rs 324 crore investment, is more than a legislative venue. It features eco‑friendly design with solar panels, a 500‑seat auditorium and a corridor linking civic functions to community services. Modi highlighted its “Dharti Dhurandhar” theme – a celebration of Chhattisgarh’s soil and culture – and praised its artful rice‑grain ceilings and tribal motifs.
In the closing moments, Modi planted a sapling under a tree planted by the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statue, symbolising growth and respect for legacy. He celebrated the state’s “Amrit Varsh” – the 75th anniversary of the Constitution – and praised current political leaders, such as Speaker Raman Singh, who now serves the people with humility.
For Modi, the event was not just an opening. It was a reminder that Chhattisgarh’s 25‑year journey of struggle and resilience should continue toward a prosperous, self‑reliant Viksit Bharat by 2047 – grounded in the moral guidance of Lord Ram and the values of inclusive development.
