PM Modi’s swift action shows how deeply he cared: Minister Raksha Khadse on 2024 Nepal bus tragedy

In a heartfelt video shared on X, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse opened up about a heartbreaking bus accident in Nepal and how Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepped in personally to help grieving families bring back their loved ones.
The tragic incident unfolded on April 24, 2024, when a bus with around 50 passengers plunged about 150 meters into the Marsyangdi River near Kathmandu. It claimed the lives of around 25 people on the spot, leaving families in shock and desperate for support.
Khadse, who got word of the crash right away, didn’t waste a second. She reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for quick permission to head to Nepal, even though PM Modi was traveling abroad at the time. “The families called me for help—they were scared and struggling with the language barrier. I just had to get there fast,” she shared in the video.
With a nod from PMO Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra, who looped in the Prime Minister directly, Khadse got the green light to travel. Nepal’s ambassador even joined her to smooth things over for the affected families.
Once on the ground, Khadse visited the hospital treating the injured survivors. She praised the staff for having medical reports ready in advance, making things easier during the chaos. Nepalese officials were incredibly cooperative too—they wrapped up post-mortem procedures and released the bodies in just four hours.
But what really touched Khadse was PM Modi’s hands-on role. He made sure a special defense plane was sent to airlift the bodies back to Jalgaon in India, where they arrived safely by 6 p.m. that day.
Reflecting on the whole ordeal, Khadse called it a powerful lesson in how good intentions can move mountains. “The Prime Minister’s personal involvement showed me just how much he cares for our people in their darkest moments,” she said, highlighting his unwavering commitment to Indian citizens facing crises abroad.
This story of swift action and compassion in the 2024 Nepal bus accident continues to inspire, underscoring the strong India-Nepal ties during tough times.
