In Dehradun on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a floral tribute to the portrait of Maharishi Valmiki, the legendary author of the Ramayana. He posted the gesture on X, praising Valmiki’s epic as a timeless guide that spreads Lord Ram’s ideals of honor, truth, and duty to everyone.
Dhami wrote, “On the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, the creator of the Ramayana, we salute the Adi Kavi Maharishi Valmiki Ji. His epic brings the moral lessons of Lord Shri Ram to all people.” He added that Valmiki’s work continues to inspire humanity to walk a path of dignity, propriety, and truth.
The same day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed similar praise, saying the Valmiki Ramayana motivates people toward truth, justice, and righteousness. He highlighted the epic’s lessons on humanity, goodwill, and harmony.
Both leaders highlighted how Valmiki’s teachings help people live with principles that benefit society and the nation. The states are using their notes to encourage public participation and cultural celebration.
The Uttar Pradesh government announced an all‑state Valmiki Jayanti program featuring Ramayana recitations, cultural shows, devotional songs, hymns, and lamp‑lighting ceremonies at Valmiki‑associated temples. A major event will run at the Maharishi Valmiki meditation site in Chitrakoot, giving local artists a spiritual platform and inviting community leaders to engage.
Valmiki Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of the great sage who wrote the Ramayana. It falls on the full‑moon day of the Hindu month of Ashwin, usually September or October in the Gregorian calendar.
