Patna, Nov 18 () – Political activity in Bihar has stepped up as state leaders finalize plans for the new government and the Chief Minister’s swearing‑in ceremony.
Two senior Janata Dal United (JD‑U) figures, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (nicknamed Lalan Singh) and the party’s acting national president, Sanjay Jha, flew back to Patna from Delhi on Tuesday night aboard a special charter flight. The duo joined Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the trip.
The trio left Patna for Delhi on Monday night to meet key BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting concentrated on the cabinet’s structure: how many ministers each party will have, who will become Deputy Chief Minister, and who will be elected Speaker of the Bihar Assembly.
A clear directive from the BJP’s high command reached the JD‑U leaders, who then flew straight to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence to brief him on the agreements and guidelines from the central side.
The meeting marks a crucial step toward finalising the government‑formation formula, distributing portfolios smoothly, and ensuring the swearing‑in ceremony runs on schedule. Rapid returns and immediate discussions with Nitish Kumar signal that the agenda is in its final phase.
Observers say the last round of talks cleared the path for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to announce the new Chief Minister on Wednesday. The agreement on seat and post distribution between the two major alliance partners will shape Bihar’s political landscape for the coming term.
