In the rugged hills of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force rolled out a major joint drill called Poorvi Prachand Prahara on Saturday. The exercise tests how the three services work together in hard‑to‑reach, high‑altitude terrain.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, the defence spokesperson, said the drill shows how land, air and sea forces can share information and firepower in real time. He highlighted the use of Special Forces teams, drones, precision weapons and a network of command centres that all operate together under tough conditions. The goal is to refine tactics and keep the armed forces ready for future conflicts.
The drill follows two earlier tri‑service tests—Bhala Prahara 2023 and Poorvi Prahara 2024—and marks a new milestone in India’s push for joint operations.
In a different part of the country, a green‑living event that began at Pangsau Pass, also in Arunachal, was kicked off on the same day. The Pedal to Plant Expedition 2025 is a pan‑India cycling tour that aims to plant 100,000 saplings across the nation and finish in Gujarat on Dec. 31. The journey is led by Nisha Kumari, a celebrated para‑cyclist, mountaineer and national icon.
“Let’s pedal for a greener, fitter India,” said Lt. Col. Rawat. “It’s part of the Fit India program and ties back to the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrated on his birthday.”
Troops from the Assam Rifles joined the ride, showing a partnership between the military and civilians. The first tree‑planting stop was in Jairampur, where local officials and soldiers planted saplings together.
Both the military drill and the cycling expedition underscore India’s focus on readiness and sustainability, combining cutting‑edge defense training with a national push toward environmental stewardship and healthy living.
